Program Description
The Bachelor of Arts in Education with a concentration in Elementary Education (K–6) is a state-approved licensure program that prepares future educators to teach and inspire students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Rooted in research-based pedagogy and aligned with state and national standards, this program equips graduates with the knowledge, skills, and classroom experience needed to foster student success across learning environments.
Designed for individuals who are passionate about teaching and public education, the program emphasizes critical thinking, culturally responsive instruction and the meaningful integration of educational technology. Students develop deep content knowledge in core subjects while learning how to create engaging and supportive classrooms.
Field experiences are woven throughout the curriculum, beginning early in the program and culminating in a full-time internship during the final semester. These experiences take place in local public schools and give students opportunities to apply what they’ve learned, build strong mentorship connections and gain confidence in their teaching practice.
Graduates of the program earn eligibility for Florida certification in Elementary Education K–6, with endorsements in Reading and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), making them highly competitive in today’s job market. Whether teaching in a neighborhood school or leading reform efforts in education, alumni are well-prepared to make a lasting impact on the lives of children and communities.
